This week I visited Green Things Farm Collective a majority women owned-farm business which evolved out of Green Things Farm started by Jill and Nate Lada in 2011. I originally met them back in 2018 while working on a couple of videos to lobby folks ahead of the 2018 Farm Bill. If there is anything worth lobbying for, it is sustainable local agriculture that has its roots in community farm incubator programs. These photos are part of an ongoing photo collection I am building documenting Washtenaw Counties agricultural scene… I am not sure what the final output of the work will be. My favorite output for photographs is a thick book. Maybe if I create an excellent mock-up, I can find a publisher who will front all the $$$. Maybe it will just be an online archive. One thing I am sure about is that the work will be donated to the Ann Arbor District Library’s Community Collection. That collection is SO DOPE (my favorite images are when I search “halloween”), You can download the images at high resolution so I pull from the archive often for all sorts of design projects and many of my illustrations. Tons of local libraries have image banks like this and for the most part, you can go HOG WILD picking images that suit your fancy, copyright be damned! Private property is for chumps! “Steal” “my” “work”. (you can’t take what is not mine, I do not believe in free will, we are all just biological computers running algorithms and responding and adapting to external stimuli, so don’t be hard on yourself, and try to be a good person) Next week I will show you my garden!
