Mike Kelley (my-k kell-ee)
conscious entity

The artist who I most relate to.

Born on October 27, 1954, Wayne, Michigan, he attended the University of Michigan School of Art, which became a subject in his works “Alma Pater” (1992) and “Education Complex” (1995).

His work involved found objects, textile banners, drawings, assemblage, collage, performance and video. He often worked collaboratively and was regarded as a pungent commentator on American class, popular culture and youthful rebellion. His essays are some of his greatest works.

His later work addressed architecture and filmic narrative through the theory of repressed memory syndrome, and a sustained biographic and pseudo-biographic inquiry into his own aesthetic and social history.

Death by suicide on January 31, 2012, South Pasadena, California.

The Dream State (th-e dr-eem st-eight)
state of consciousness

Dreaming may be defined as a mental state, an altered state of consciousness, which occurs during sleep. Dreams usually involve fictive events that are organized in a story-like manner, characterized by a range of internally generated sensory, perceptual, and emotional experiences.

The world of dreams constitutes a major aspect of human experience and has both fascinated and mystified mankind since time immemorial. Much has been speculated about the origin, meaning, and purpose of dreaming, while the private nature of dreams has made an objective analysis extremely difficult.

Dreams have a profound effect on our material world where they inspire actions.

1.) the quality, production, expression, or realm, according to aesthetic principles, of what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary significance.

2.) an object meant to function as a speculation commodity, public relations asset, and luxury item, tax haven, and legal “grey market” for wealth criminals.

Kayfabe (cay-fah-bae)
noun

Originating in professional wrestling, kayfabe, as a noun, is the portrayal of staged events within the industry as "real" or "true", specifically the portrayal of competition, rivalries, and relationships between participants as being genuine and not staged.

Kayfabrication (cay-fab-rick-ayt-shun)
verb

The process by which real activities that are dangerous and/or boring tend to get sanitized by the participants so that they can present an as-if product to those outside of the structure, not themselves get hurt, and continue to make money off of it.

This process takes a real and serious aspect of our reality and through fantasy, mass marketing, and opaque practices of gate keeping, renders a false sense of security that is generally unsustainable. This false sense of security is then marketed by older generations to younger generations in order to preserve the illusion of stability, often for short term economic gains.

The fact of instability is hidden or ignored, false stability is marketed and consumed, the can of collapse is kicked down the road.

Examples include: The 1944 Bretton Woods Conference, The Luxury Art Market, FIAT Currency, culturally condoned pyramid schemes including: employment in Higher Education, the Luxury Art Market, Partner Based Law Firms.

Our entire construct of reality is a grand illusion, out of which we strive to make meaning.

Conjured, as an apparition, ephemeral, like the changing leaves. 

Each of our subjective experiences is a simulation of reality, conjured by our brains, based on inputs of stimuli conjured by our nerves, which are formed from cells, which are formed from atoms, and so on. Layers upon layers of things, smaller and smaller.

The material world.

It radiates outwards as well, far off into the cosmos, stars many times larger than our own, dense black holes, an ocean of dark matter.

Existence is as detailed on the micro as it is the macro.

Question: Is there anything beyond our observed material plane of existence?

Answer: More is unknown than is known. We know how much dark energy there is because we know how it affects the universe's expansion (it maintains equilibrium preventing collapse, a reverse big bang). Other than that, it is a complete mystery. But it is an important mystery. It turns out that roughly 68% of the universe is dark energy. Dark matter makes up about 27%.

The rest - everything on Earth, everything ever observed with all of our instruments, all “normal” matter - adds up to less than 5% of the universe.

conscious entity

Me. Born on April 05, 1994, Allen Park, Michigan, attended the University of Michigan School of Art (which was bought out by a “yacht interior designer” who was married to a venture capitalist and renamed to the entirely too long: Penny W. Stamps School of Art and Design). He is currently engaged in a durational performance piece called “office decade” where he performs labor for the University of Michigan for 10 years (6 down).

He views his labor and the profit as the new form of “public support for the arts.” His time, talents, and labor are put to use by the institution, and he lives check to check, but in relative comfort. It works for him, for now.

His work involves, email newsletters, drawings, sounds, photography, performance and video. He often works collaboratively and is interested in the imposition of a narrative or narrative-like elements on real experiences or events.

His later work has yet to be made.

He wants to be Mike Kelley and survive.
