Friends, we are here at last. My favorite time of year: Spooky Season. For me, it is the changing leaves, a changing wardrobe, the houses playing dress-up, the ever-flowing cycle of life and death, the crisp morning air, and of course, the hint of haunting that permeates everything. The question every year is… When do the dog days of summer really end? When does spooky season begin? Fear not. Every year I get a sign… This year, it was in the form of these horny ladies…

A shofar, is an instrument that humans have been making for 3,000 years, out of a hollowed out ram’s horn. Traditionally it is blown in association with Jewish holidays or for battle. In recent decades, it has made its way into evangelical hands, and even more recently it has become a staple of anti-mask-vaccine-lockdown protests. I was curious about why this is, so I looked it up…
Here is what Gary Burge has to say: “In the late 19th century, there’s the dawning of Zionism. It takes hold inside of Judaism as a way to reclaim ancient legacies. You also have Christian Zionism, which takes form around the turn of the century. Christian Zionism not only anticipates the return of Jews to the Holy Land, but it also becomes deeply interested in the recreation of Jewish practices. Endless war, deathly respiratory diseases, an economic model based on speculation, fighting over land deemed holy— some things never change… Maybe we do need a Messiah! The thing about end times is… They come often and drag on and on and on. So long in fact, that I am hungry… Hungry as Hell. Luckily I know where to go.

Hell, Michigan… “First” settled in 1838 by George Reeves, Hell started out as a grist mill and general store on the banks of what is now called Hell Creek. Apparently, George was leagues beyond crypto currency, he paid the local farmers for their grain in home-distilled whiskey (very intense blockchain). This led many wives to comment, “He’s gone to Hell again,” when questioned about their husbands’ whereabouts during harvest time. The name stuck and the land became known as “Hell” in 1841.

Today, Hell is a thriving enterprise including: Screams Souvenirs and Creamatorium, the Hell Hole Diner, the Hell Saloon, Putt-Putt Mini Golf, a wedding chapel, and of course #puremichigan, Kayak rentals. The Spiral Topped Chapel* is the coolest looking building in town.

Frankly, I got so excited to be amongst the people of Hell, I lost my appetite.
So, I fed my soul and recorded this song in-front of the Hell Hole.

After making the recording, Odin/John came out of the Screamatorium hollering and waving a $2 dollar bill. “What a Hell of a song! Listen, I have a standing arrangement with the bank, $2000 in $2 bills a month! Here you go!”
